I am a multidisciplinary artist creating paintings and sculptures from human experience in the natural world. Through personal research examining relationships of animals or vegetation in the wild, I present beautiful biomorphic organic works highlighting place and connectedness.
My creations of complex organic sculptural forms and ritualistic vessels focus on featuring unrefined indigenous river clay, letting the clay dictate the emerging form. By marrying wild river clay to commercial clays and found animal bones, the works pay homage to the natural world. Similarly, my paintings involve building and subtracting layers of lucious and dreamy paint colors based on a naturalistic aura. Over time, colors manifest and morph into their own shape, form, angles, and curves. Ultimately the pigments, clays and elements from the earth are unveiled by a connection through my existence in nature.
For me, body and soil connect as one while the wilderness serves as a spiritual tonic. Nature holds much hope for our world, however it is becoming a lost wilderness. We must begin paying attention to that which is being destroyed or humanity cannot survive without.
